Barn Library

This property used to be an under-utilised barn building until its owners decided to make the most efficient and beneficial use of it, and that is how the library came to life. Our clients’ wish was to convert and conserve the building to a high standard and create facilities for a library and storage. The internal space was arranged to provide space for two book-storage rooms and a large, double-height reading room.

The external works included minor adjustments to the existing fenestration, including new windows, new glazed screen, replacement windows and new external shutters, as well as stone and pointing repairs to the primary stone walls and the renewal of rainwater goods.

The Barn Library received a Commendation from the William Stansell Somerset Historic Building Awards 2023.
